Saxony Once Again at the SEMICON WEST Leading European Microelectronics Venue

For the fourth time in a row now, Europe's largest microelectronics venue, which is located in the German federal state of Saxony, will present itself at the SEMICON WEST trade show in San Francisco, California, between July 14 and 16, 2009.

The state-owned Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS) and the State Capital Dresden as well as the branch network "Silicon Saxony" are organizing together the joint booth No. 1920 located in the South Hall at the Moscone Center. Eleven companies and suppliers will showcase their products at this saxon booth. Two additional Saxon companies will attend the Intersolar America trade show which is held at the same time. This is a perfect opportunity for Saxons to talk with investors and to create interest in the business venue Saxony. That's also the objective of the evening reception to be held in the San Francisco Marriott Hotel (Union Square) on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Saxony will also be promoting the SEMICON EUROPA trade show to be held in Dresden between October 6 and 8, 2009.

The 300 millimeter silicon disks which were first developed in Dresden, Saxony, in 1998 gained fame as the so-called pizza wafers. With such companies as Global Foundries (formerly AMD), Infineon, Applied Materials, and many more, the small German federal state of Saxony with its only 4.3 million inhabitants actually ranks fifth among the leading global microelectronics venues today. The requisite research infrastructure, the renowned Fraunhofer Society, for example, has Germany's densest concentration of high tech institutes in Dresden -, paves the way for many other innovations: The "Center for Organic Materials and Electronic Devices Dresden" (COMEDD) is conducting research on organic semiconductor components, light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and solar cells. May 2009 marked the start of the Cool Silicon cluster, where more than 60 enterprises and research institutes are developing energy saving chips and sensors.

And tourists love Saxony, too! The Free State is the traditional "Christmas Country" and delights with its picturesque and diverse landscapes at any season, its resplendent arts, and its famed cultural attractions. Saxony's state capital, the baroque city of Dresden, enchants with its dazzling architecture, for example, the world famous Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) with its light sandstone walls and baroque interior which had been destroyed completely in World War II and rebuilt only recently.

The following companies will present themselves at the SEMICON WEST:
AIS Automation Dresden GmbH, profi-con GmbH, SYSTEMA Systementwicklung GmbH, HSEB Dresden GmbH, Roth & Rau AG, acp-IT AG, DUALIS GmbH IT Solution, itemic AG, Lotus Systems GmbH, Tec-Sem Group AG, and Vistec Electron Beam Lithography Group. The two Saxon participants at the 2nd Intersolar North America are the GFC Antriebssyteme GmbH corporation and the FHR Anlagenbau GmbH corporation.
